Just as we like to get to know more about you when you’re looking to buy, sell, let or rent a property, we feel that it's important you get to know the people who are here to help you along in that journey. One of our newest members is James Grace, who joins our finance team. So let’s get straight to it and find out how James found his way to Alexander & Co.
"Previously I worked as an Operations Manager for John Lewis and simply fancied a change, a new challenge. Some of my family work in financial services so I guess it's kind of in my blood, you could say. I started by getting qualified, studying and taking my mortgage exams, which I did within two years.
For me, it was important to get some hands-on experience and I joined Alexander & Co as a trainee adviser and have been able to learn as much as possible to enable me to qualify quicker."
Why financial services?
"The reason I chose financial services was because it's a great feeling to help people get the home of their dreams. Financial services is all about helping people achieve their goals, and basically helping them purchase, whether it’s their first home or their forever home. That’s why I fell in love with financial services.
There are two exams that I studied for and took via a correspondence style course. I had to revise really hard, and knuckle down. Two years later, I’m qualified and now I’m all signed off and considered competent. The next stage is to get up and running and help as many people as possible secure mortgages."
What made you choose Alexander & Co?
"The reason I chose Alexander & Co is because I like the brand values, and what it stands for. It's quite a tight-knit company and the focus is really on the customer. I’ve found there are quite a few similarities between the brand values of Alexander & Co and my previous job at John Lewis. Again, it's all based around the customer and making sure that you’re providing a really good level of service. So yes, that's the thing I like about Alexander & Co; they do seem to go the extra mile to help people."
What do you like to do in your free time?
"In my spare time I enjoy going to the gym, I am also currently relishing the challenge of learning to snowboard in readiness for a last minute trip away in the New Year."
James is based at our Aylesbury branch.
