It’s a hole in one!
After months of delay, we held an event this September to raise money for a charity very close to our heart, and close to our local branches. Action4Youth is a proactive youth charity doing superb work to support and give hope to the rising generation within our community, and has been our chosen charity partner for the past 18 months.
On Friday 10th September we hosted a charity golf day at the renowned Whittlebury Park course in Northamptonshire. Fifty amateur golfers came to support the cause, with one of our golfers even driving all the way down from Glasgow to make it to the event! As we eagerly awaited our guests, we crossed our fingers for the rain to hold off.
The whole day was filled with fun, food and golf, with guests enjoying a welcome breakfast followed by 18 holes and a chance to beat the pro. The competition invited amateur golfers to take on the Whittlebury local pro, Richard, and in the end six people won! Afterwards, the 50-odd attendees enjoyed a well deserved three course lunch, which was delicious.
Later in the day, it was time for the highly anticipated raffles with 17 prizes up for grabs, the main event being a year’s gin & tonic subscription. It was a success all round, with one person saying it had been one of the best charity event days they’d ever been too.
Now, the all important question: how much did we raise? Drum roll, please…with the support of our generous guests, we scored a hole in one and raised £7,180, which our team internally agreed to round up to £10,000! We couldn’t be happier. Thank you to all who participated and gave up their time to make the day special, and to those who considerately contributed. Your donations mean Action4You can continue to provide vital support to our local community.
