This year, we get the sense that people are embracing a more traditional Christmas. Friends are switching gifts for time together or supporting a local charity, and families are concentrating on making memories rather than purchasing extravagant gifts. Our team are also getting involved and two of our branches have chosen to support their local FoodBank instead of buying presents for each other.
This cause is really important to our Aylesbury team, which is why they have also opted to act as a collection point for all donations to the Aylesbury FoodBank this Christmas. Therefore, if you are able to drop a little extra something into your shopping trolley, we know the FoodBank will be extremely grateful for any donation, no matter what the size.
Matt and his team will also be giving up their time by helping out in the FoodBank warehouse throughout December.
Aylesbury’s FoodBank only opened in 2016 but since then they have fed over 2,500 people, providing over 1,200 three-day emergency food supplies.
Like many offices, our team in Dunstable usually take part in a Secret Santa style present giving, but this year our Director, Jason, suggested something a little different. Instead of buying a present for one person, each member of staff is buying food for their local FoodBank.
Dunstable’s FoodBank has been open for 6 years, giving out over 3,000 food supplies to local people who are living in crisis.
Again, the FoodBank welcomes all donations, but they’ve let us know some of the items that are always needed:
Tea, UHT milk, tinned fruit, instant mash, jam, sugar, tinned sardines, tinned tomatoes, sponge pudding, tinned vegetables, tinned meat and fish, snack pasta and rice, pasta sauce, coffee, savoury snacks, and soup.
With collection points spread all over the UK, FoodBank believe that no one should face going hungry, which is why they try to provide three days’ worth of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people in your area.
Together let’s add a little bit of magic to someone else’s Christmas this year.
